How Can We Live a Healthy Life?

Living a healthy lifestyle isn’t just dieting and extreme exercising, it’s about consistency. Making healthier choices doesn’t have to be difficult. The way we feel in relation to our general health and wellbeing can have a massive impact over the way we live our lives.

If you’re looking for ways to live a healthier lifestyle and transform your life, you may wish to start off with simple changes to your routine and set small goals for yourself to achieve over time. Setting goals can make the world of difference and help you on your path towards living a healthier and happier life.

This blog explains the easiest ways to live a healthy and consistent life, and how you can make changes to your lifestyle to improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Regular Exercise

Regular exercise is a great way to have a healthy body and mind. By regularly exercising, your heart will become stronger as exercise improves your blood circulation. Increased blood circulation also raises oxygen levels; reducing the risk of heart disease and lowering cholesterol levels.

Other benefits of regular exercise include physically feeling better and reducing fat in the body which helps tone you out. Exercising is also proven to have great mental benefits, releasing stress and anxiety and helping you sleep better at night, which, of course, means you are likely to wake up feeling more refreshed the next day.

Drink Plenty of Water

By drinking water each day (3.7 litres for males and 2.7 litres for females) you will see great health benefits as it helps to balance bodily fluids. Drinking plenty of water helps with blood circulation, saliva creation, regulation of body temperature and digestion. The human body contains around 60% water, so it's no wonder that its consumption can help with great health benefits!

Consuming the recommended amounts of water helps with keeping your body functioning correctly. Water can help keep bladder infections away and may also help with headaches and migraines. Water will also help keep you hydrated when you are exercising - meaning you can work out for longer.

Eat Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. However, more and more of us are opting to skip breakfast either due to busy lifestyles or even ‘forgetting’ to eat in the morning. It’s very important not to skip breakfast as it’s proven that by skipping breakfast and eating later on will actually increase calorie intake due to your body needing to absorb more calories to get its energy from.

A light and healthy breakfast can support in reducing appetite, with those skipping breakfast tending to usually eat much more to curb hunger. Avoid skipping breakfast and try to eat for a balanced, healthy and filling breakfast to leave you feeling energised for the rest of the day. A protein rich breakfast with fruits can give you enough energy to continue throughout the day without getting tired, avoid processed breakfasts or high fat breakfasts as these can make you feel bloated.

Balanced Diet

Crash diets and losing weight fast doesn't always leave you with consistent results. A healthy, balanced diet is one of the most effective methods to increasing overall health, and keeping your body in good shape. A balanced diet can consist of a low-fat diary, vegetables, fruits and meat. By having a healthy diet, you will have more energy throughout the day, helping to reduce the risk of heart disease and further health problems in the future. Saturated fats and too much salt can lead to higher blood pressure - so be sure to be responsible with your diet.

A balanced diet should include breakfast, lunch and dinner. Snacking on small meals such as grapes, apples and other fruits throughout the day is also a great way to keep hunger at bay and increase energy levels. A balanced diet should also contain a mix of vegetables, fruits and meat, this is so that you can get the right nutrients and proteins to keep you going through the day whilst retaining a healthy balanced diet.

Limit Sugars

A low-sugar diet can physically change your appearance, by reducing the chance of acne, removing circles under the eyes and making your skin look and feel healthier. By taking in too much sugar you will start to get more tired and earlier during the day, this is because sugar can take the much-needed water from your cells which leaves you feeling dehydrated.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, you don’t need to completely remove sugar - there are plenty of low sugar, healthy and delicious alternatives!

Read Food Labels

Reading food labels before consumption is extremely important as you need to know what your body is taking in. It can often be a surprise to learn just how much salt is in everyday foods we eat. Processed foods can lead to consuming higher amounts of salt, sugar and fat than our bodies need - this is because processed foods are generally made to be affordable and addictive, but contain all of the wrong ingredients.

Processed food that has long shelf life labels very often have added sodium and saturated fats in the ingredients - these should be avoided where possible as they can have health risks associated when consumed in high amounts. By reading food labels, you can reduce the amount of calories taken in and reduce fat and sugar intake. It’s always better to go for fresh foods such as fruit and vegetables.

Improve Your Muscular Strength

A stronger body will allow you to move more easily and perform everyday tasks, as well as reducing the risk of you sustaining injuries. Getting stronger can also give you a better posture, provided you train properly based on what your body needs
